The summer of 2024 saw a large influx of new faces to the Arp ISD athletics department.

That includes new head coaches for the Arp High School baseball and softball teams.

12-year coaching veteran Christopher Moore becomes the Tigers new skipper, while former Lamar and Marshall University standout Mikaila Kenney takes over the Lady Tigers softball program.

Also a U.S. Air Force veteran, Moore comes to Arp, America after a three-year stint as the head baseball coach at Center, where he was the middle school athletics coordinator as well.

"I am looking forward to continuing to build upon the foundation that has already been established at Arp ISD by the current coaches, and the coaches who came before," said Moore. "I can't wait to grind with a group of hard-working, blue-collared young men."

Moore is already grinding on the gridiron with the Tigers as a high school assistant football coach, while in addition, teaching Money Matters.

A firm believer that "the program is bigger than the individual," Moore wants to instill that mindset into his players right away.

"It's about being excited for (your) teammates," he explained. "It's about having their back when the grind is tough (and it will get tough), building them up when they fail (and they will fail), and celebrating them when they succeed. It's about being a family."
