Stephanie Schminkey

Over the last seven years, Stephanie Schminkey has been a massive asset to Arp ISD.

Whether as Arp Elementary principal, or this past year as the district's K-8 academic director, Schminkey has always sought to bring out the very best from our children. And she has done so in a caring, and loving way.

She will enter her eighth school year in Arp, America with an additional responsibility as Schminkey will now embrace the role of assistant superintendent.

Arp ISD had been without a person in that capacity since the summer of 2021.

"Having an assistant superintendent will enhance Arp ISD's ability to improve on student outcomes, and increase our ability to recruit and retain valuable employees," stated Arp ISD Superintendent Shannon Arrington.

While Schminkey will remain as the K-8 academic director working alongside teachers and administrators at our elementary and junior high campuses, she will add the following to her agenda:

  • Oversee curriculum and instruction.

  • District programs and initiatives - Create new teacher mentorship programs, grow our own teachers/administrators, and community engagement.

  • Policy review.

  • Recruit and retain professional employees.

"I am grateful for this opportunity," said Schminkey. "(I) am honored to work alongside the excellent staff at Arp ISD to help continue to make this district the best it can be for our students."

The Arp ISD school board approved her appointment at last week's monthly scheduled board meeting.

"Stephanie Schminkey is a passionate educator," expressed Arrington. "The Arp community is blessed to have her," he added.
